1 Corinthians 14:33

The Bible maintains that God is not the author of confusion; therefore, can confusion in the interpretation of the Bible be a result of sin?

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

1 Corinthians 14:33

First, note that it says he is not “the author of confusion”, not ‘an’ author. This would mean that there is a “the author”, but if not God then who? Satan. God did not allow for the confusion of having multiple authors of confusion.

The context is order in the assembly of believers. The way of confusion is not of God but of order and peace.

Confusion is also a consequence of sin.

Daniel 9:8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

Lacking a right heart toward God and the correct attitude toward studying the Scriptures leads to misinterpretations and misunderstandings of God’s word, causing confusion in the assemblies of the Lord.
