And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

Being left to rot is a great dishonor according to the Scriptures.

Burying the dead, the funeral business, is big business (20 Billion a year). It is also a waste and a plague on the earth. We fill our bodies full of poisons and stick them in the ground. This is why it is mandatory that you be buried in a concrete vault if you are embalmed.

On the other hand you can be cremated or composted.

There is no need to preserve your earthly body. God has everything about you written in a book (DNA) and he can reconstitute your body at any time and put your soul back in it.

Job 19:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

An elite Jewish burial is one that lets your body rot for a year and then your bones are collected and put in an ossuary, burial box. No need to preserve the flesh.
